CMFA Financings Enable $85,000 in Contributions to California Nonprofits

The CMFA continues to give back to the communities in California by directing a portion of its issuance fees to charitable organizations. Seven 501(c)(3) organizations received $80,000 total in contributions from the California Foundation for Stronger Communities with funds donated by the CMFA.

The seven well-deserving organizations include:

Boys & Girls Clubs of Redlands serving the communities of Loma Linda, Mentone, Redlands, and San Bernardino.  The Clubs are a safe place to learn and grow — all while having fun. Club programs and services promote and enhance the development of boys and girls by instilling a sense of competence, usefulness, belonging, and influence.

 

Chinatown Service Center is the largest community-based Chinese American health and human services organization in Southern California that provides outstanding services and advocacy that promote better quality of life and equal opportunity for immigrants and other communities.

 

Jai Lao Foundation is a small nonprofit organization of devoted volunteers with hearts that beat as one to serve and help Lao brothers and sisters in need.  They believe in giving back to the community at large while embracing the Lao culture.  Jai Lao hopes to encourage and inspire others to come together as one Lao Community, collaborating to enhance and improve the act of caring and giving together.

 

Leukemia & Lymphoma Society is the world’s largest voluntary health agency dedicated to blood cancer. LLS funds lifesaving blood cancer research around the world and provides free information and support services. LLS mission is to cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families.

 

Search to Involve Pilipino Americans (SIPA) provides health and human services as well as community economic development and arts/cultural programs for low to moderate income youth and families in multi-ethnic Historic Filipino town and other residents in the greater Los Angeles and Southern California metropolitan area.

 

Venice Community Housing Corporation helps low-income people stabilize their lives through non-profit affordable housing and comprehensive skills training. Non-profit affordable housing programs are supported by a comprehensive range of life skills coaching, job training, youth development and employment, and family services. Formerly homeless and low-income participants are able to stabilize their lives and achieve economic self-reliance, making our communities stronger, safer and more inclusive for everyone.

 

Women Escaping a Violent Environment (WEAVE) provides crisis intervention services to women, men and children in Sacramento County who have experienced domestic violence or have been sexually assaulted.

CMFA Completed the issuance of $4,495,000 in Bonds for Volunteers of America

Southern Californian Development Corporation of VOA, Inc. completed the issuance of $4,495,000 of tax-exempt private activity bonds to finance and refinance the construction, improvement, renovation and equipping of independent and assisted living facilities located in Imperial and San Diego County, California.

The CMFA continues to give back to the communities in California by directing a portion of its issuance fees to charitable organizations. Four 501(c)(3) organizations received $57,500 total in contributions from the California Foundation for Stronger Communities with funds donated by the CMFA.

The four well-deserving organizations include:

Housing California’s mission is to prevent homelessness and increase the supply of decent, safe, accessible and permanently affordable homes for homeless and low-income Californians. Housing CA staff accomplishes its goals through advocacy, education and research, and communications and outreach.
Clearwater Residential reaches out to seniors trying to manage on fixed incomes (including those with physical disabilities) so that each may live with dignity through assistance of housing and supportive social services and those that are homeless or at-risk of becoming homeless, so they can achieve pride through self-sufficiency.
Freedom Station will be the leader in providing temporary lodging facilities, educational guidance, counseling, physical therapy, and career opportunities to our Nation’s wounded and disabled military heroes who are medically retired or discharged and begin the transition from defenders of freedom to productive members of America’s civilian work force. Freedom Station will also enable personal interaction between our military warriors and uniquely qualified volunteers and professional counselors at facilities within our main campus and satellite locations. We vow to be the hand up and not a hand out.
Cabrillo Housing provides comprehensive housing services, through a community building approach, that facilitate self-sufficiency for individuals and families who are most lacking in opportunity in Ventura and Santa Barbara counties and adjacent areas in Los Angeles county
