CMFA Partners with Bridge Housing on MacArthur Transit Village Redevelopment in Oakland

The CMFA recently partnered with Bridge Housing on their MacArthur Station/Mural Apartments project.  The project is part of the MacArthur Transit Village redevelopment.  Planners hope to create a new vibrant neighborhood with 500-800 new housing units including live-work units, artist lofts, flats and town homes.  The MacArthur Transit Village will also offer new retail serving both commuters and the local neighborhood and 45,000 square feet of “high-bay, creative” office space as part of a mixed-use, signature building that includes a tower as a key architectural feature.  The Transit-Oriented Development will be located adjacent to the MacArthur BART Station.  The project is the culmination of the city and the BART Citizen’s Planning Committee (CPC) effort which began redevelopment efforts in 2000.  The plan will re-introduce the original street grid while placing BART parking into a new, state-of-the-art parking structure. Plans also include a ground floor, open-market grocery store at the station entrance, while the south end of the site (on West Mac Arthur Boulevard) will feature a new, 75,000-square-foot medical office building, including an expanded Health South Medical Center.
