Mr. Ed Becker Chief Financial Officer of Olive Crest
Edward J. Becker is the Chief Financial Officer for Olive Crest, Inc., a not-for-profit organization which has been providing services for children and their families in Southern California for over 30 years. This position supervises all accounting, human resources, management information systems, and business related functions.
He has worked in the not-for-profit social services area for over sixteen years providing a business perspective which enables the organization to provide services more efficiently with minimum administrative overhead expense. His prior experience includes oversight of operations that provided services not only to California but Texas, Nevada, Utah, Colorado, Minnesota, Arizona, and South Carolina.
Ed served in the US Army for twenty years. His duty assignments were world-wide and his last assignment was as a Personnel Officer at the United States Military, West Point, New York.
He holds a BS in business administration from Columbia College, an MBA from National University, and a DBA from California Pacific University.
Ms. Joya C. De Foor Treasurer, City of Los Angeles, CA
For over four years, Ms. Joya C. De Foor has been the City Treasurer for Los Angeles. From 1998 until December 2000, she was the City Treasurer & Revenue Officer for Long Beach, CA.
Before joining the City of Long Beach, Ms. De Foor worked in a variety of professional capacities for the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority including Assistant Treasurer, then Treasurer of the Authority. Prior to the MTA, Ms. De Foor was affiliated with Deloitte & Touche Management Consulting Group in Los Angeles, Coldwell Banker, EGS Metro Corporation as Assistant Controller and Panhandle Eastern (now Duke Energy Corporation) as Project Manager in Kansas City and California.
Ms. De Foor earned a BBA in Accounting from the University of Notre Dame, and an MBA from the University of Southern California where she was President of the Association of Graduate Business Students. She is currently on leave from Concord University School of Law where she has completed her second year and passed the State of California's First Year Law Student's Exam (Baby Bar). Ms. De Foor is also a Certified Treasury Professional (CTP) and a Certified Government Financial Manager (CGFM).
Ms. De Foor's professional affiliations include: US Bank's Regional Advisory Board, the Government Finance Officers Association where she is an executive board member, and Vice Chair of the Women's Financial Network. She has recently served on the Association of Finance Professionals' CTP Test Certification Committee.
Mr. Eric Iwafuchi Chief Financial Officer and VP of Finance for Scope Industries
Mr. Iwafuchi is currently Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Scope Industries, an American Stock Exchange listed company engaged in recycling bakery waste material into animal feed supplements. Prior to joining Scope, Mr. Iwafuchi held senior financial positions at Concept Enterprises, Inc. and Titan Corporation and started his career at Arthur Young & Company where received his CPA certificate. He holds a BS in Business from the University of California State at Los Angeles and an MBA in Finance from the University of Southern California.
Mr. Gordon J. Lee President & CEO of Princeton Credit
Gordon J. Lee is President & CEO of Princeton Credit. Princeton Credit is a provider of financing and financial advisory services for the corporate client. For more than 24 years, he has been actively engaged in counseling and representing a wide range of public and private corporate and individual clients, in an array of financing and advisory transactions. Gordon has significant experience and expertise with transactions involving financial institutions, healthcare organizations, real estate companies, and has represented companies in a diverse universe of industries, including manufacturing companies, technology-based clients, energy and non-profits. Prior to founding this company, Mr. Lee was the executive responsible for managing the portfolio and business development at 4 commercial offices of First Interstate Bank.
Mr. Lee serves on the boards of the UCLA Medical School, UCLA Hospital System Finance Committee, Venice Family Clinic (largest free clinic in the nation) and The Westside Children's Center. Mr. Lee is the Vice Chair of the Financial Oversight Committee for the Santa Monica Malibu School District. This position can only be appointed by the elected members of the School Board though an interview process and a public board vote. He is also the Chair of the Bond Subcommittee for the recent GO issued in 2007 for $265MM for improvements of school facilities.
Formally, University of Southern California's Asian Pacific American Support Group, Advisory Council of the West Los Angeles Police Department, and is Chairman Emeritus of the largest Asian Pacific scholarship program in the United States at the University of Southern California.
An avid wine collector, he was formally a contributing editor to the Underground Wine Journal, a highly respected international publication.
Gordon J. Lee, a native of San Francisco, earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Finance at the University of Southern California.
Mr. Justin McCarthy Assistant City Manager - Redevelopment
Justin McCarthy has served four southern California cities in various capacities over a twenty-two year career. Justin's expertise is in the areas of redevelopment, economic development, affordable housing, community development and public finance. His experience includes the implementation of millions of square feet of public-private projects across all real estate product types with a total development value exceeding $1 billion.
He currently manages one of California's larger redevelopment agencies which is engaged in the development and rehabilitation of approximately 400 affordable housing units, hotel resort development, retail district revitalization, public facilities & infrastructure construction and the operation of a housing authority with over 900 affordable apartments for low income seniors and families.
Mr. McCarthy has a BA in Political Science and a MPA from California State University, Long Beach.
Mrs. Faye K. Watanabe Administrative Manager of Public Finance - County of Orange
Faye K. Watanabe is the Administrative Manager of the County of Orange, County Executive Office, Public Finance which issues and administers long term debt issued by the County and affiliated issuers. Debt includes the County's recovery financings from its 1994 bankruptcy, pension obligation bonds, conduit debt for housing, redevelopment tax increment revenue bonds, master lease financings, community facilities and assessment district financings, certificates of participation and enterprise fund debt (e.g., airport, waste management).
Ms. Watanabe has worked with the County of Orange in various management capacities within public finance, housing and community development and redevelopment for over 24 years. She holds a BA in Sociology from the University of California, Santa Barbara.
